Our ITC Paediatric first aid course is designed for workers caring for children in the absence of their parents. This qualification meets Ofsted requirements for those working in early years settings. The EYFS statutory framework currently requires at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate to be on the premises or outings when children are present.
The course involves 12 hours of tuition and includes an element of practical assessment. The aim of the course is to enable students to recognise a medical emergency and be able to give immediate assistance at first aid level.
Our trainers seek to keep medical jargon and terminology to a minimum, concentrating on what you do in different situations rather than what you know. Therefore you will learn a set of general principles that you can adapt to different situations. The process of progressive skill development will be based on situation assessment and casualty examinations.
The course is of a very practical nature and will involve ‘treating’ other course members and acting as a casualty, therefore It is essential that course attendees can manage the physical requirements of the course.
Successful completion will result in candidates gaining the ITC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. This has a valid (licence to practice) lifetime of 3 years from date of completion.
