Our two-day ITC Outdoor First Aid course is suitable both for instructors needing to validate national governing body outdoor qualifications such as British Canoeing, Mountain leader etc, as well as outdoor enthusiasts seeking training so they are better prepared if the worst happens.
The course involves 16 hours of face-to-face tuition and includes an element of practical assessment. The course aims to enable students to recognize when someone has a medical emergency and to give them the skills to give immediate appropriate assistance at first aid level.
Our trainers seek to keep medical jargon and terminology to a minimum, concentrating on what you do in different situations rather than what you know. Therefore you will learn a set of general principles that you can adapt to different situations. The process of progressive skill development will be based on situation assessment and casualty examinations. The course is of a very practical nature and will involve ‘treating’ other course members and acting as a casualty, therefore It is essential that course attendees can
manage the physical requirements of the course.
To ensure high standards are maintained our we use ITC First as our awarding body who are well renowned as one of the best first aid organisations in the outdoors. All courses are Ofqual regulated and accredited by the Institute of Outdoor Learning. All courses will be adapted to the candidates usage to ensure as realistic and relevant as possible.
