First Aid at Work – 3 day

It is a legal requirement for employers to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and the ITC 3 day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose.  Successful course completion ensures attendees have the knowledge and skills identified by the HSE for the management of emergency incidents and the treatment of illness and injuries in the workplace.

The First Aid at Work (FAW) course involves 18 hours of tuition and includes an element of assessment.  The aim of the course is to enable participants to recognize when someone has a medical emergency and be able to give immediate assistance at first aid level.

Our trainers seek to keep medical jargon and terminology to a minimum, concentrating on what you do in different situations rather than what you know. Therefore you will learn a set of general principles that you can adapt to different situations. The process of progressive skill development will be based on situation assessment and casualty examinations. The course is of a very practical nature and will involve ‘treating’ other course members and acting as a casualty.

We very much believe participants learn best by doing.  All candidates will receive a comprehensive and easy to use course manual and successful completion will result in participants gaining the ITC Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work with a valid (licence to practice) lifetime of 3 years from date of completion.  It is essential that course attendees can manage the physical requirements of the course.

For candidates needing a less comprehensive first aid course, you may wish to consider our 6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course.
