This qualification is also ideal for DofE participants. &nbsp;Please note that it is not suitable for validating most NGB qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course involves 8 hours of tuition and includes an element of assessment. &nbsp;The main difference between this course and the 2 day Outdoor First Aid course is that the focus is on treating life threatening emergencies without so much time being spent on longer-term incident management. &nbsp;The aim of the course is to enable students to recognize when someone has a medical emergency and be able to give immediate appropriate assistance at<br>first aid level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our trainers seek to keep medical jargon and terminology to a minimum, concentrating on what you do in different situations rather than what you know. Therefore you will learn a set of general principles that you can adapt to different situations. The process of progressive skill development will be based on situation assessment and casualty examinations. The course is of a very practical nature and will involve \u2018treating\u2019 other course members and acting as a casualty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course is of a very practical nature and will involve \u2018treating\u2019 other course members and acting as a casualty therefore, It is essential that course attendees can manage the physical requirements of the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topics covered will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Guidance on current best practice and legislation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assessments of situations and casualty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Airway, breathing and circulation assessments, including emergency resuscitation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safe airway position<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dealing with choking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Treatment of severe bleeding and shock<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Life threatening conditions such as heart attack, asthma, diabetes, burns and anaphylactic shock<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On successful completion students will be awarded the Outdoor First Aid (Emergency Action) certificate which is valid for three years and requires no interim revalidation.
