Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is an ideal option for schools or workplace environments.  The course is designed for situations where help can be sought quickly.  It particularly suits staff acting in a support role where they can summon assistance from higher qualified personnel quickly.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course involves 6 hours of tuition and includes an element of assessment.  The aim of the course is to enable students to recognise when someone has a medical emergency and be able to give immediate appropriate assistance at first aid level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trainers keep medical jargon and terminology to a minimum and concentrate on what you do in different situations rather than what you know.  You will therefore learn a set of general principles which they can adapt to different situations.  The process of progressive skill development will be based on situation assessment and casualty examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Emergency First aid at Work (EFAW) course is of a very practical nature and will involve \u2018treating\u2019 other course members.  It also involves sometimes taking the role of a casualty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successful candidates will receive an accredited and industry recognised certificate ITC Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), valid for three years from the date of completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Topics covered will include:
– Understand the role of the first aider
– Understand the importance of preventing cross infection
– Understand the need for recording incidents and actions
– Develop the skills to assess situations and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
– Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive
– Administer first aid to a casualty who has suffered a seizure
– Administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
– Use an Automated External Debrilliator (AED)
– Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
– Administer first aid to a casualty who is bleeding
– Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
– Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, burns and scalds and small splinters<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
